Beckertime - WHAT AFFECTS THE ACCURACY OF A ROLEX?

It might come as a surprise that Rolex is not one hundred percent accurate for the life of the watch, but the slight fluctuations are a byproduct of the care and quality

that goes into the manufacturing of a Rolex. They are impeccably calibrated to the conditions in which they are produced, and taking the watch out of that environment

can cause changes.

A Rolex can actually lose or gain time. There are adjustments that can be made to mitigate these fluctuations, but every mechanical watch stands to lose or gain a few

minutes over time and needs to be recalibrated occasionally. The Rolex is no different and there are other important considerations when choosing a luxury watch, such as

style and durability.

The reasons for these fluctuations may have to do with the altitude of the user and not the function of the watch itself. A Rolex is calibrated to run at a certain speed when

fully wound, and is operational at the settings of altitude and temperature where it is manufactured. Higher and lower altitudes may cause a slight variation in the readings of

a Rolex and slight manual adjustments might be necessary from time to time. A Rolex might go through several climates and altitudes, from the manufacturer to the

establishments where they are sold. In general a Rolex is calibrated to the local surroundings before it is sold to a customer. A local jeweler who is familiar with Rolex

can be able to calibrate your watch to the immediate altitude and temperature,  however if you travel to higher or lower altitudes your Rolex may need slight manual

alterations.

Occasionally a rough shipping trip and/or altitude & temperature variations experienced in transit can cause a watch to not run properly. Pressure of trapped air molecules

inside the case can cause either expansion or compression on the parts of the movement. Of course, this even happens to brand new watches when Rolex ships from

Switzerland to an authorized Rolex dealer. The adjustments of decompression and calibration are usually made before the watch is sold to the customer.

Regardless of slight fluctuations Rolex is the world leader in stylish and luxurious timepieces, and is the finest watch you can buy. With high standards of craftsmanship

and the utmost care in manufacturing, Rolex is the most popular and most sought after watch in the world.
